Summary
The Minerals and Mining Act 2006, regulates all aspects of the exploration and exploitation of minerals within the territory of Ghana. The regulatory framework for the mining sector includes: the Minerals and Mining Act 2006 as amended by the Minerals and Mining (Amendment) Act, 2015 and the Minerals and Mining (Amendment) Act, 2019; the Minerals Commission Act, 1993; the Minerals Development Fund Act, 2016; the Minerals Income Investment Fund Act, 2018; and the Kimberley Process Certificate Act, 2003. Other substantive legislation that regulates different aspects of the mining sector are listed below. The official version of the primary law is in English and there are no official translations of this law into other languages. The government regulating entity is the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (https://mlnr.gov.gh/).   The country's mining contracts are available at resourcecontracts.org.
