Summary

The Mining Code 2022 (Law No. 2022 - 033) regulates exploration, prospecting, exploitation, possession, movement, marketing and processing of mineral and fossil substances found on the national territory of the Republic of Niger. The law has been amended by the Law No. 2023 - 03 of May 9, 2023 which amends and supplements it. As a member of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (also known by its French acronym, UEMOA), Niger is also governed by the Community Mining Code issued under Regulation N°02/2023/CM/UEMOA. Other substantive laws within the regulatory framework for the mining sector can be found below. The official version of the primary law is in French and there are no official translations of this law into other languages. The government regulating entity is the Ministry of Mines.
