The Mining Code 2023 (Law No. 2023-040) which regulates all operations related to the reconnaissance, exploration, research, construction, and exploitation of mineral substances and quarries in Mali. The regulatory framework includes the mining code Law 2023, the Law No. 2023-041 relating to the local content in the Mining Sector (the “Local Content Law”), the West African Economic and Monetary Union (also known by its French acronym, UEMOA) Community Mining Code issued under Regulation N°02/2023/CM/UEMOA by way of UEMOA membership. Other substantive laws within the regulatory framework for the mining sector can be found below. The official version of the primary law is in French and there are no official translations of this law into other languages. The government regulating entity is the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water (https://www.mines.gouv.ml/). The country's mining contracts are available at resourcescontracts.org.
