Summary
The Mineral Resources Law No.198/2014 regulates the exploration and exploitation of mineral resources from mines, quarries and salines. There is an amendment to the law known as the Mineral Resources Law No.145/2019. The regulatory framework for the sector includes the Executive Regulations No.108/2020. These regulations are to be interpreted alongside the primary law and other laws of Egypt. Other substantive laws within the regulatory framework for the mining sector can be found below. The law is available for download at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources website (https://www.petroleum.gov.eg/ar-eg/mineral-resources/Pages/mineral-rules.aspx). The official version of the primary law is in Arabic and there is an official translation of this law into the English language. The government regulatory entity responsible for mineral resources in Egypt is the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (http://emra.gov.eg/). The country's mining contracts for non-oil minerals are not available at resourcecontracts.org.
